Traditional medicinal plants used by tribal communities in Tonk district, Rajasthan

Rajasthan is the third largest state of India. About 80% population live in villages. The main tribes are Bhil, Meena, Garasia, Saharia, Damor and Kathoudi. study area comprises Tonk district Rajasthan, India which has seven divisions Deoli, Malpura, Todaraisingh, Uniara, Peeplu, Newai. Survey method was followed covering five villages each division. data were collected through direct interviews with local people, priests, physician gardeners. A detailed questionnaire designed written Hindi for baseline following standardised procedures. tribal communities use plants plant products their day to life, however there a gap knowledge younger generation. total 147 species belonging 62 vascular families reported. From these 145 reported be used medicinal applications, 135 treat more than one disease remaining 8 only disease. most widely part leaves (95 species) the, common mode application oral (39.65%). traditional about can produce new use, food fodder.
